COVID-19 Quarters

Speaking of revenue, I’ve been looking at a new rumour floating around social media about a US Government plot to spread COVID-19.

What started this rumour was the issue of a new US quarter. What makes this quarter so special is that while the front has a picture of George Washington, unlike most quarters, the back features a hanging mother bat and a baby bat.

They were first issued this year — which means so far they’re dated 2020 — and while they purport to be a special issue commemorating the US national park in American Samoa, the story is circulating that they are in fact a tacit admission by the US government that they are involved in a plot to spread COVID-19.

There are lots of theories around how COVID-19 started, but one is that it originated with people eating bats from live markets in Wuhan, China.

And a meme that’s floating around touts all the disinformation tropes.

I think this is a pretty amazing and funny meme, so I’m bought in.

If you don’t recognise it, that’s the sound of a bag of money, and I happen to have 100 COVID bat quarters that I ordered, direct from the US Mint.

Which is great, but what’s unfortunate for me is these coins are part of the America the Beautiful Quarters® Program. Authorized by Congress in 2018, featuring 56 different quarters, each depicting a national park or other national site in a U.S. state or territory: in this case, American Samoa.

So, instead of me being out $25, I think I’d like my own attempt at spreading a little disinformation:

COVID doesn’t come from bats – actually, COVID was developed in a lab in DC. It was originally designed to be spread through the magnetic stripe in the new Barack Obama $100 bill — don’t laugh, they’re coming. Just wait. But one of the lab workers accidentally released it when he used one of the bills to buy pizzas at the Chuckee Cheese that Hillary secretly owns with sleepy Joe.

Anyway, these COVID quarters aren’t an admission of guilt. They’ve actually been made to block the coronavirus-spreading microwaves from the $100 bill, and If you wear one in your breast pocket, you can avoid COVID.

I just happen to have 100 of them right here, and will reluctantly part with a few for $100 each.

Fancy one ?
